It is essential to note that only one positive skill assessment outcome is valid with the CPA Australia. In case you wish to change the ANZSCO code for a different position by applying for a renewal, the previous skill assessment result will no longer be valid.

Eligibility Criteria for the Skill Assessment Requirement for Accounting

Skill Assessment Requirements
  • Candidate must possess a qualification that is considered equivalent to at least an Australian Bachelor Degree for the CPA Australia to assess.
  • Candidate must be aware of the specified competency sections that are relevant to the chosen ANZSCO code.
  • Must score a minimum cut off in the English Language proficiency exam.
Provisional Assessment Criteria for Temporary Skill Visa(Subclass 485)
  • Candidate must have a Bachelor or Master degree from an Australian university with a specialization in Accountancy.
  • Must have proper knowledge of all the specific competency areas specified in the assessment criteria that are relevant to the chosen ANZSCO code.
  • Must meet the necessary English Language Proficiency score.
Degree Requirement:
  • Must possess a qualification that is considered at least equivalent to Australian Bachelor degree by CPA Australia.
  • In case of overseas qualification, the CPA uses assessment guidelines provided by Australian Government’s Department of Education.
  • Must include a specialized subject like accounting, business, commerce or economics in an equivalent 12 or bachelor degree courses to qualify for the skill assessment test.
Competency Sections:
  • Each ANZSCO code is attached to seven or eight mandatory competency areas. To qualify for the general and provisional skill assessments, your qualification must cover all the required areas of your chosen ANZSCO code.

English Language Requirement to be granted by the skill assessment body for Accounting
The mandatory test results recognized by the CPA Australia include
Advanced CAE(Cambridge English Knowledge)
Candidates must score a minimum of 185 points in each of the modules in English.
IELTS Test score
A minimum score of 7.0 in each of the module is required to clear the assessment test.
PTE Academic
Participants must acquire a score of 65 in each module of the English competency test.
Skilled Migration Internship Program for Accounting(SMIPA)
SMIPA certificate is also recognized by CPA Australia and can become one of the major reasons to grant your skill assessment for accounting requirement.
TOEFL iBT
A minimum score of 24 in listening and reading section, at least 27 in Writing and 23 in speaking is mandatory to qualify in the skill assessment.
